Finally, several hours after hauling leaves and nesting materials up to their new homes,
everything was ready. Rachel and Olivia moved in, and within days both had brand new babies
to love, cuddle, and teach the ways of Nature. There were five raccoon babies, the smallest
being Caleb, to keep Rachel busy and thirteen possum babies all nestled in Olivia's built in
pouch. If you put all the possum babies together they would still be smaller than just one of
the baby raccoons, even Caleb, who was the size of a mouse.
Weeks went by and the babies were growing and getting stronger except for Caleb
who was just not growing as fast as his brothers and sisters. All the baby raccoons were
looking forward to the night they would get to go for their first trip down the tree and into
the woods with their mother. The baby possums were quite content right where they
were, in mom's pouch, because they got to go everywhere she went all the time.
