Raccoons are usually born late March to early April with late arrivals in August
or September. Young usually stay with their mother up to a year. |
|
|
We raise orphans in groups of 5 or 6 to encourage interacting. They have a very
delicate digestive system when they are neonates and should only be raised by qualified rehabbers. |
|
|
These animals were
created to live outdoors and make their dens in tree hollows.
They can climb headfirst or tail first up or down with the same dexterity. They
also can move just as easily backwards as forwards on the ground. They do not make
good pets, as they are very inquisitive and destructive. If a baby raccoon is found
on the ground the nearest wildlife rehab clinic should be contacted for instructions. |

In most cases the mother will retrieve the young when given the chance. |
